The mother involved in a high-profile custody battle sparked by allegations that she was raising her son and daughter in a racist environment was arrested this week on five charges related to credit-card fraud.

For every purchase, consumers pay a fee called an interchange or swipe fee for the convenience of using a credit card. Nationwide, the percentage of that fee averages around 2 percent of the purchase, but could be as high as 4 percent.
